The studio is free. Make characters, use them, sell the work you make with them. A few commonsense limits apply.
Dot Avatar Maker is a free, browser-based character maker. You may use it for personal or commercial projects without payment, attribution or permission. No account is required and there is no usage limit.
Characters you create are yours to use: profile pictures, stickers, avatars for bots and agents, illustrations, brand mascots, game prototypes, slides, merchandise, and client work. No credit is required, though a link back is always welcome.
The one thing we ask you not to do is resell the exported files themselves as stock art, avatar packs, templates or a competing generator. Use them in your own work, not as the product.
The studio is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. It may change, break or be unavailable at times, and features may be added or removed. Because everything renders on your device, an outage cannot affect characters you have already exported — but it can affect opening the studio to make new ones.
Dot Avatar Maker is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or connected to OpenAI, and it is not the official editor for the Dots product or for any other avatar tool. All trademarks referenced belong to their respective owners and are used only to describe the style of character this studio makes.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the studio and its makers are not liable for any loss arising from use of the site or of the files it produces. You are responsible for how you use the characters you export.
These terms may be updated as the studio changes. The current version always lives on this page, with the date below.
