Is the dot avatar maker free?

Yes. It is free to use with no sign-up, no watermark and no usage limit. The whole studio runs in your browser. The $DOTVA token pays for the optional skills around the studio — it never gates the maker.

What is $DOTVA for?

$DOTVA is the token for the paid layer around the studio: you buy skills with it, wallet to wallet on Solana — no card, no invoice, no subscription. Everything the studio does today stays free, and the token never gates it. Read the $DOTVA section.

Where do I find the $DOTVA contract address?

In the $DOTVA section on this page, and nowhere else first. It is not published yet — on launch day the address appears there with a copy button and the badge above it switches from “pre-launch” to “live”.

Can I pay for a skill with $DOTVA?

That is what it is for. Holders of 10,000 $DOTVA get the skills unlocked, and any skill can also be bought with the token directly from your wallet once the contract address is live.

What can I download?

Two formats: a 1024 × 1024 transparent PNG with no background or floor shadow, and a single HTML file that shows your dot full screen in interactive 3D.

Can I use my dot as a profile picture?

Yes. The PNG works as a profile picture, a sticker, a chatbot avatar or artwork inside slides and posts — personal or commercial, no credit needed. The only thing we ask is that you do not resell the image on its own as stock art.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. Drag with one finger to spin your dot, pinch or scroll to zoom. On phones the long plush finish uses fewer strands so it stays smooth.

Are my dots uploaded anywhere?

No. The 3D rendering, the PNG and the 3D page are all produced on your device. Nothing you make is sent to a server.

Why does the downloaded 3D page need internet?

It carries the open-source three.js library inside the file, so it opens on its own — nothing is loaded from a third-party CDN and nothing is sent anywhere. Everything else — your character, its colours and its accessories — is in the file too.

Can I share a dot with someone?

Yes. Use “Copy link” in the studio: the link carries your exact form, colour, finish and look, so whoever opens it gets your dot in their studio.

Is this the official OpenAI Dots editor?

No. Dot Avatar Maker is an independent studio for making dot-style 3D characters, and it is not affiliated with OpenAI.
