Changelog

What changed.

Every studio update, newest first. Small fixes are grouped; anything that changes how a dot looks is called out.

Now

1.0 — Public launch

  • Twenty-six forms across classics, animals and fantasy friends, with boy and girl styling in the form step.
  • Twelve finishes, including four fabric finishes with real surface displacement (short plush, long plush, wool felt, velvet).
  • Thirty looks, anchored to the character surface so hats and clips fit every silhouette.
  • Two exports: a transparent 1024 × 1024 PNG with no floor shadow, and a single-file 3D page you can spin.
  • Share links that carry the entire character in the URL.
  • Gallery characters load into the studio in one click.

0.9 — Finishes and looks

  • Split the single “material” control into twelve distinct finishes, each with its own roughness, sheen and reflection behaviour.
  • Added glass and chrome, including a studio environment built by hand so metal reflects something other than flat white.
  • Reworked the panda, fox, butterfly and scallop forms, which previously read as generic blobs.
  • Anchored eyewear and headbands to the head radius so they stop floating on narrow or wide forms.
  • Long plush is thinned automatically on small screens to keep the frame rate comfortable.

0.8 — First playable studio

  • Real-time 3D preview with drag to spin, scroll to zoom and double-click to reset.
  • Idle animation: gentle breathing and an occasional blink, so the character never looks frozen.
  • Sixteen-colour palette plus a custom colour field, with darker accent shades derived per colour.
  • First eleven classic forms and the transparent PNG export.

0.5 — Prototype

  • A dot in a browser: one round body, one light, one colour. Enough to prove that a code-built character could look like a toy.

Dates are publication dates of each release of the public studio. Character designs you export are never changed by an update — a dot you downloaded stays exactly as you downloaded it.
